This morning, six adults had to appear in court in Turnhout. It concerns three couples, all people of Surinamese descent with ages between 31 and 43 years. Among them is the boy’s father. The six have been in jail since Friday on suspicion of deliberately withholding care from a 14-year-old boy. They wouldn’t have wanted to kill the child. According to the public prosecutor of Antwerp, the boy died ‘because they did not help him or not sufficiently when he needed help’.
