Sick children & teachers in Blankenberge: sea classes aborted

It concerns 34 primary school children and teachers from two schools in Geraardsbergen and Zandvliet. They got sick during sports classes in Blankenberge.

The children stay in the sports complex of Sport Vlaanderen in the Koning Boudewijnlaan in Blankenberge. One student called in sick on Monday. Yesterday that escalated and 26 children and 8 accompanying teachers were sick. One school has already discontinued the sports class.

“Maybe stomach flu”

The first findings show that it could be stomach flu. No one had to go to hospital and the sick are now on the mend.

Sport Vlaanderen called in the Agency for Care and Health, which is further investigating the cause. Sport Vlaanderen will also conduct its own investigation.
