It now seems to be a daily column in Shownieuws: mourning the ‘intense suffering’ of Marco Borsato’s children, ex-wife, mother, nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts.
The stars of Shownieuws have no reservations when it comes to their support for Marco Borsato. They are no longer as crazy as they were two years ago – when family friend Anouk Smulders was simply smearing his victim live on television – but it is still evident that they stand firmly behind the pop singer.
Rocking Borsatos
Now that Marco is actually being prosecuted for indecent assault on an underage girl, they can no longer say that everything won’t be too bad with that case, so they are now throwing it all on his family. Because oh, how bad it is for them too. Well, Angela de Jong writes: “It’s Show News. What do you expect?”
The Borsato children, their mother Leontine and their grandmother Mary Borsato have suddenly appeared regularly in the media lately. They then suggest that there is a lot that the general public does not yet know, which tends to cast doubt on Marco’s victim. “We’re just going to do it to rock!”, says daughter Jada about this serious abuse case.
No fake privileges
Now son Luca has given another interview. Like other celebrity children, he thought he would effortlessly slide into the showbiz world with his middle-of-the-road music, but is being seriously hindered by his father’s business. So much for nepobaby privileges. Fortunately, Luca sounds down-to-earth; he keeps his job as a driver for a catering company.
Of course, those children can function well despite their father’s possible misbehavior, especially if they are willing to do normal work outside the spotlight. There is of course only one real victim in this entire case, but the attention that Shownieuws draws to Marco’s loved ones is disproportionate.
‘So poignant!’
Tooske Ragas started talking about it again yesterday the show section on SBS 6, despite the fact that she and her colleagues are clearly on Angela de Jong’s punishment bench. “I find it so poignant to hear the children in particular speaking in such a way that you think: shit.”
Patty Brard: “I can imagine that you think so and then again – we will say again – that of course we have to wait and see everything and of course also feel for the victim.”
‘Are we going to say it again?’ Well, that’s the thing. That victim is only mentioned once when they are again under fire from outside at Shownieuws.
No game
Tooske intervenes: “It’s not a competition. I see a child here (Luca, ed.) and that child is in a very difficult position.”
Evert Santegoeds, who knew about Marco’s alleged misconduct for a year and a half before it came out – he himself does not see it as ‘keeping it under wraps’, says: “The media are on edge and social media are on edge. They’ll cut your head off as soon as you say something people don’t like. You have to weigh every word.”
He advises the Borsato kids not to do any more interviews for a while. “I would now advise them to leave it at that. It is extremely sensitive. I noticed that myself last week.”
Callous
Evert is known for his subjective attitude in the Borsato case. “Everyone said, ‘There are only losers in this business.’ I think: let me name them those losers. Then, in addition to the mother and the victim, I also come to Borsato’s children, his mother and Leontine. You will not be thanked for that either.”
Ah, nice that Evert has finally named those ‘losers’. As if that doesn’t happen every night by him or his colleagues at Shownieuws. Evert bries: “Angela de Jong in particular completely ignores the fact that that is of course also a thing. I think it’s quite callous not to think about that.”
