Show jumping rider Ruben Ellerman caused a big surprise at the NK Eventing in Norg last weekend.
The only 12-year-old resident of Emmer-Compascuum crowned himself with his pony Cantos as Dutch junior champion under 18 in a strong field of participants. In June, the talented rider also became Northern Dutch champion.
Strong impression
Eventing is considered the most versatile branch of equestrian sport. Ruben Ellerman made a very strong impression with Cantos in the dressage test, the show jumping course and the cross country with fixed obstacles. ,,This gelding can handle every part, but excels especially in the cross country with his beautiful canter”, Ruben, member of De Runderuiters, looks back with pride on his excellent performance in North Drenthe.
Goosebumps moments
The ceremony gave the youthful equestrian fanatic goosebumps and no less for the instructors Loes Corsel and Karin Dijkstra. “Partly thanks to their knowledge and guidance, I have come this far,” says Ruben, who will start his first year at Esdal College in Emmen next week.
