Showhero back in theater Heiloo: indispensable outlet for unlimited talent

Anyone can be a star, including people with a physical or mental disability. They will be given a stage in Heiloo tomorrow evening during a new edition of Showhero. “They really missed this when everything was shut down because of corona.”

That is what Lucas Bugter of the Showhero Foundation tells us. “The theme is therefore ‘Old and Again’, because we have a lot of parties to catch up on.”

Showhero has been organizing talent shows for twelve years to offer people with a mental or physical disability a stage. But the last big show in a real theater, such as Saturday evening in De Beun in Heiloo, was in 2019.

No weak deduction

And anyone who thinks it’s a far cry from talent shows like Holland’s Got Talent, The Voice and Idols is wrong. Soundchecking, make-up and a real jury: everything is done to give the participants a unique evening To deliver.

“Eight artists will perform tomorrow; they sing, lip-sync, dance and give away a spectacular show. And this means a lot to them,” says Bugter. “You can tell by everything that they’ve missed it over the past two years.”

Emotional

He notices from the reactions of the participants that it also evokes emotions. “It is heartwarming to hear from parents and carers that some are really emotional about the prospect. They really need an outlet like this.”

The jury consists of former mayor Hans Romeyn van Heiloo, Showhero ambassador Jeroen Schouten and theater maker Marius Prein. They assess the talents that, except for one Helmonder, all come from North Holland.

The performances, and some surprise acts, start on Saturday evening at 19.00 pm and there are still tickets available. Would you like to know what to expect? Look below for a short compilation of an earlier edition of Showhero that NH Nieuws reported on.
