After rain comes sunshine. And also snow. Temperatures will drop in Flanders in the coming days and the showers may gradually become wintery. Melting snow may fall in Lower and Central Belgium tonight, among other things. What else can we expect this week? Our weatherman David Dehenauw predicts whether we should gradually take out our snow boots.
LOOK. Will we get snow in Flanders in the coming days?
According to our weatherman, winter precipitation could fall next night. “I do not rule out snow that temporarily accumulates, especially in the Kempen,” said Dehenauw at VTM NIEUWS, “but we will not get significant snow in Flanders. I don’t see that happening in the coming days. There may be a snow shower at night, but I don’t see much significant precipitation for the time being.”
Weather forecast for the coming days
Tonight and tonight showers move over the land from the North Sea. The showers can gradually become wintry, with occasional rain showers melting snow in Lower and Central Belgium and snow in the Ardennes. At the end of the night, low clouds are formed in Upper Belgium with a chance of hoarfrost spots on the relief. The minimum temperatures are around -7 degrees in the High Fens, around 0 degrees in the center and around +4 or +5 degrees at the sea. The wind is weak and then moderate from southwest and moderate to quite strong at sea from west-northwest.
Tomorrow morning we expect low clouds in the Ardennes with a chance of some snowflakes. Elsewhere, the day usually starts dry with clear spells. However, showers are gradually moving from the North Sea to the southeast. These can sometimes become wintery – also in Flanders – and affect the relief of the Ardennes can they snow leave behind. The maximum temperatures are between -1 degree in the High Fens and +5 or +6 degrees on the coast, with values close to 4 degrees in the center. During the day it is just too mild in Flanders and there is mainly rain, grain hail or melting snow. In the Ardennes, precipitation will fall as snow anyway, predicts meteorologist Samuel Helsen.
Thursday starts with some freezing fog banks, but then we get nice clearances in most places. More cloud cover remains in the southeast, especially in the extreme southeast chance of something light winter precipitation. The maximum temperatures are between -3 or -2 degrees on the Ardennes peaks and +3 degrees at the sea. The northeasterly wind blows weakly in Flanders and usually moderate in Wallonia.
It is after a cold night Friday morning mainly dry with beautiful, sunny periods in the northwestern half of the country. In the southeast there are temporarily more clouds and in the extreme southeast possibly one little snow traps. After that it will also be dry there with clear spells. The maximum temperatures are between -3 degrees in the high Ardennes and +2 or +3 degrees at the sea. In the center the mercury remains stuck around freezing point. The wind is blowing weakly from the northeast.
