Show jumper Deußer sixth at the start of the World Cup season

Show jumper Daniel Deußer finished sixth at the start of the World Cup season in Oslo.

The former World Cup winner, who lives in Belgium, had a knockdown with his mare Killer Queen in the jump-off and landed directly in front of Philipp Weishaupt from Riesenbeck on Zineday, who also had four penalties.

The winner was the Swiss Bryan Balsiger on Dubai du Bois with the fastest clear ride in the jump-off. A total of eleven couples had reached the decisive round after a clear round in normal circulation. The Aachen winner Gerrit Nieberg from Sendenhorst missed the jump-off after a throw on Ben and finished 14th.

Oslo was the first leg of 14 stops in the Western European League. The series also includes two German stations. The tournaments in Stuttgart on November 13th and in Leipzig on January 21st next year are about World Cup points. The final is in Omaha in April, where the 2017 World Cup winner was determined. The best 18 riders from the western European league qualify for the final tournament in the US state of Nebraska.

So far there have been ten German World Cup winners. The last one so far was Deusser. He won in Lyon in 2014. The defending champion is the Swiss Martin Fuchs, who won the unofficial World Indoor Championships in Leipzig at the beginning of April.
