Shot put legend Adams retires

Three days after ex-world champion Christina Schwanitz, two-time shot put Olympic champion Valerie Adams (37) from New Zealand announced her retirement.

“My heart, mind and body simply answered the question for me, so it’s time for me to stop,” said the four-time world champion on Tuesday.

The 1.93 m tall exceptional athlete dominated her discipline between 2010 and 2014 and won 56 international competitions in a row. At the Olympic Games, she won gold in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, silver in Rio in 2016 and bronze in Tokyo last year.
