Belinda Lagerweij can’t get over it. Two days ago she found her cat Tijgertje in the garden in the Kersenboogerd district in Hoorn: dead. He appears to have been hit by a small bullet, possibly fired from a catapult. An incident that is not an isolated incident, Belinda thinks. “There’s more to it here.”
The sadness is in her voice. Her Tijgertje, who had been in her possession for ten years, just died. “I took him out at half past nine in the morning. Forty-five minutes later I saw him lying in the garden strangely.” When she picked him up, he must have just been shot. “Because he still had a thick tail, probably from the fright.”
Tijgertje had just been hit on his head by a small iron ball and did not survive this. “He always looked under the fence and it is precisely in that place in the fence that we see minor damage, the size of the bullet. We cremated him yesterday and next week we will collect his ashes. his end is coming. You can’t be content with this.”
Cat Guusje from Zwaag was also born earlier this year already killed by two bullets† A prank prank? Belinda – who lives on the Thrush – doesn’t think so. “I’m afraid it is not an incident in itself. A little further on, on the Koolmees, a cat was also shot a while ago. Fortunately, this one survived. And I heard from others that cats are also missing. There is something here going on, there’s more going on here.”
In addition to Tijgertje, Belinda also has Snoepie. “A cat that originally came from the shelter. He cannot be kept in, but I am terrified to take him outside. Afraid that something will happen to him too.”
Belinda is very upset. “I have trouble concentrating. Always wondering what happened and who would do such a thing anyway? We did our research ourselves, but nobody in the area saw anything. File a report? Find some evidence that is difficult.”
