A bullet hole straight through the kitchen window, it is at odds with the tranquility that the car-free courtyard de Veekraal in Oss radiates. However, that tranquility is not what it seems according to local residents.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday into Saturday. The resident was home at the time but was not injured. Police are currently still investigating what exactly happened.
Despite the fact that the courtyard is so quiet, local residents have learned little from the shooting. But they don’t really look up from the shots either.
“I don’t trust it all anymore.”
“There is a deal in the street behind this. You can hear them coming on scooters very hard. I’ve said something about it, but then you get a big mouth and they start to intimidate you a bit,” says a resident of the neighbourhood.
According to another, cars are also regularly broken into. “That is really something of the last few weeks. I bought an extra steering wheel lock for it because I no longer trust it all.”
De Veekraal is a new neighborhood on the edge of Oss with many different types of homes. There are single-family homes, but also porch flats and small apartments.
“I often see types who have no business here.”
A neighbor lives in such a smaller apartment and overlooks the shelled house. “I have never seen anything crazy. It is a young woman who lives alone. But I can tell you that it has been restless here for some time. I often see types who have little business here.”
The day before, a house on Merelstraat was also shot at. That is about two kilometers away from the Veekraal. Police are investigating whether the two shootings are related.
