Last week, the Frisian New Year’s Eve Association managed to take an oversized shopping cart from Beilen without being seen. The statue was located at the Jumbo distribution center in Beilen.
This morning the statue was unveiled in Haule. The theft of the statue was quite complicated. Jorrit Jan van der Vosse: “We were already in Beilen on Thursday evening and thought we would lift the shopping cart off the pedestal together. But the statue was a lot heavier than expected and you don’t want to hang around there for too long.” So the members of HOP returned to Haule empty-handed that evening. On Friday evening they returned to Beilen with heavier artillery. “We now had a mini shovel with us and the job was done in no time,” says Van der Vosse.
