The man who stabbed two Albert Heijn employees at the 18 Septemberplein in Eindhoven at the end of 2021 must go to jail for five years. The court in Den Bosch determined this on Wednesday in the appeal. Earlier, the judge sentenced him to four years in prison. It is still lower than the requirement of the Public Prosecution Service, which saw him disappear behind bars for no less than nine years.
Things went wrong when the then 37-year-old man tried to steal three cans of Malibu from the supermarket in Eindhoven on October 11, 2021. When employees approached him about this, a struggle ensued. There the shoplifter used a knife. One employee was hit in the side, the other was injured in the arm.
Shortly afterwards, the man fled on his bicycle. After a tip from a witness, the police were finally able to arrest him in a parking garage. Two warning shots were fired.
