Canadian e-commerce service provider Shopify is reshuffling its leadership team. On Thursday evening, the company announced personnel changes in two key positions. Accordingly, Kaz Nejatian has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) with immediate effect. He succeeds Toby Shannan, who will remain an advisor until the end of the year and then join the company’s board of directors. Nejatian will retain his current position as VP of Product after being appointed COO, Shopify said.

The position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will also be filled: Jeff Hoffmeister was presented as the designated successor to Amy Shapero, who intends to step down at the end of October after the current quarterly figures have been announced. Hoffmeister comes from the finance company Morgan Stanley, where he was most recently a managing director in the Technology Investment Banking Group division. He had advised Shopify in previous years, including on the company’s IPO, which was completed in spring 2015.
