Shooting star Max Paul joins the DTM

Surprising DTM announcement from Maximilian Paul: The sensational winner of the Nürburgringring race from last year will join the traditional series in 2024 with Paul Motorsport and a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 and will be there from the start of the next season. The 26-year-old from Dresden announced this on Instagram.

“It’s a dream come true for me,” says Maximilian Paul. “Especially after last year’s victory, my goal was to drive the full season. I’m looking forward to every single lap in the DTM.”

The team has also already presented the vehicle design: the car has blue stickers. The main sponsor is the car parts manufacturer Meyle, which, according to information from Motorsport-Total.com, has campaigned for a DTM entry after Paul was originally supposed to start in the ADAC GT Masters.

Lamborghini will be the most strongly represented brand in DTM 2024?

The announcement brings the number of DTM vehicles presented so far to 13 – and it looks as if Lamborghini will be the most strongly represented brand in the field with five vehicles in 2024, something that has never happened before in the DTM.

In addition, it is now clear that, despite negotiations, Paul will not be used in the second Grasser Lamborghini, for which no pilot has yet been presented.

Last year, Paul tested his talent at the Nürburgring for the Austrian team as a replacement for Mick Wishofer and achieved a sensational victory in the wet race. It was his first outing as a regular driver after he made a guest appearance at T3 Motorsport in Spielberg in 2021.

Who is behind Paul Motorsport?

In addition to his skills as a racing driver, Paul is also considered technically adept and puts his own hands on his cars.

This also has to do with the fact that he competes for his family team with Paul Motorsport, which took over the starting position in the ADAC GT Masters in 2022 after T3 Motorsport was eliminated and is managed by his father Tobias Paul, who also acts as head of technology.

The team originally wanted to compete in the ADAC GT Masters with two Lamborghini cars this year and has already announced two drivers, Jonas Greif and Simon Connor Primm. It is unclear how the DTM entry, which was decided at short notice, will affect the plans in the GT3 series, which is aimed at young drivers and amateurs.
