Several people have been killed in a shooting in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. This is reported by the local police on Twitter. Five people were killed and six others were injured and taken to hospital. During a press conference, the local police chief stated that two officers were also injured.
Local police chief Paul Humprey said five people were killed in the shooting. He stated this at a press conference. “Six people have been taken to hospital and are being treated there, including an officer,” it said. The shooter was killed by police.
The shooting took place near the Slugger Field baseball stadium in Louisville. The perpetrator began shooting at an 1837 historic downtown building, the Old Bank of Louisville. The identity or motives of the perpetrator have not yet been released.
Louisville is a city of 625,000 in the southeastern United States. Andy Beshear, the Democratic governor of Kentucky, is on his way to town. Please pray for all affected families and for the city of Louisville.
