The Madrid Prosecutor’s Office requested a prison sentence for Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti on the grounds that he did not declare his income from image rights for tax.
The prosecutor’s office sentenced Ancelotti to 4 years and 9 years in prison on the grounds that he defrauded the tax authorities of more than 1 million Euros in the financial years of 2014 (386,361 Euros) and 2015 (675,718 Euros) during his first term as Real Madrid’s coach (2013-2015). He demanded that he be sentenced.
According to the indictment, although the Italian coach claimed that he resided in Spain for business purposes and that his address was in Madrid, he recorded only the personal work fee he received from Real Madrid in his tax returns and did not declare the income corresponding to the use of the image rights he transferred to other organizations. The prosecutor’s office accused Ancelotti of two crimes against the tax authorities.
Ancelotti signed a contract with Real Madrid on July 4, 2013, covering the period from July 5, 2013 to June 30, 2016.
According to the indictment; Although Real Madrid, headed by Florentino Perez, dismissed Ancelotti on 25 May 2015, the Italian football man rented his house in a central square of the capital until October of the same year, so that throughout 2015 Spain remained “the main center of his personal relations and economic interests” .
