China’s capital Beijing has broken the record for the most hours of sub-zero temperatures in December since 1951. This comes as a cold wave hit large parts of the country and caused snowstorms, sending temperatures down to record lows. Some areas in the northeast reached temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius due to the cold air from the Arctic.
