The Gallagher compares Adele to the late Cilla Black and finds her songs “offensive”.
Noel Gallagher, the former lead singer and guitarist for Britpop band Oasis, is known for his direct approach. In a recent interview with podcaster Matt Morgan, he revealed how he feels about Adele’s music. In the conversation, Gallagher said Adele’s songs “suck” and on top of that he compared the singer to pop singer Cilla Black, who died in 2015. He also finds her entire discography “quite insulting”.
The comment came while appearing on a podcast hosted by Matt Morgan, when the musician was asked if he was a fan of Adele’s hits. The High Flying Birds singer didn’t mince his words. “Fuck off, damn shit. Name me one!” he then said. “You’re fucking shitty. They’re bloody awful. That’s the damn Cilla Black. I find their music quite insulting.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Gallagher confirmed that he would be willing to work with the singer in the future and could envision writing tracks for her once he retires from performing live. “If I lose the love of touring, I could imagine just sitting at home and writing songs and sending them to my publishers,” he said. “I might do that in the future. I’m going to say, ‘Get Adele to sing that.’
It’s not the first time Noel Gallagher has snubbed Adele. Seven years ago he said in an interview that he didn’t like her music and that she would make “music for grandmothers”.
