Shirin David (almost) lets his guard down and the Instagram community is at loggerheads.
Shirin David shared a picture of herself on Instagram in which she appears almost completely naked. Only the 28-year-old musician’s breasts and intimate area are covered by braided braids. One of the platinum blonde braids is also shaped like a pretzel. With this photo and the caption “heidi von den hills” and a pretzel emoji, Shirin David announces her new single for Friday, November 17th, 2023.
The reactions of the Instagram community to this type of announcement vary widely. One user writes positively: “Outfit is not daring, but necessary.” And another celebrates: “Shirin is out of this world.” But some also accuse the artist of normalizing the objectification of women with her freedom of movement. For example, an Instagram comment says: “…every time I think, OK, she seems cool, something like this goes wrong. Not a role model for younger women!” Another post reads: “You are not a role model for the kids, nor are you an artist with lyrics. What comes out is what you combine social media with complexes.”
Meanwhile, the users of the platform also discuss things among themselves. One person says something like: “Why is everyone so mad in the clerks? This woman does her thing and delivers 1000% energy. And all you can do is complain that she’s skimpily dressed? You can really never please you in Germany. Instead of spreading hate, start supporting a woman who is trying to change the industry.” To which comments included: “Change the industry??? Sexism and perversion have existed for centuries and are nothing more than a toy, a means to an end to further demonize society… But yes, you’re right. She will change the industry,” ending with a laughing emoji.
