The trio from Romania were arrested for theft because of the remarkable find, not far from the border with Germany.
The Marechaussee reports, together with photos on social media, that an investigation showed that the three sheep that the thieves were transporting in their car “had been stolen from a sheep farmer in Brabant.” The owner of the animals immediately came to collect them, reports De Gelderlander.
It often happens that sheep disappear from pastures. Some animal thieves make it so much that they slaughter the four-legged friends on the spot and leave the waste behind. The mutton can sometimes yield tens of euros or more.
