Janke Dekker, the wife of Tom Egbers, was caught in a lie about ten years ago by Jan Uriot. “She pretended Liza Minnelli was coming to her premiere in Baarn!”
There are serious doubts about the integrity and reliability of Janke Dekker now that, despite the inside information about her husband Tom Egbers, she has remained as the forewoman of the Mores reporting center. In addition, critics question whether she is being honest when she says that she and Tom were “stalked” by his former mistress.
Garland & Minnelli
Private star journalist Jan Uriot has at least caught Janke in a lie about ten years ago, he says in his column What does Jan think. “I have also had a bit of a problem with her, because in 2013 she did the performance Garland & Minnelli. That was about Judy Garland and her daughter Liza Minnelli.”
Janke produced that performance herself and could therefore easily assign herself the leading role. “That was a very strange performance because Janke Dekker was ten years older than her co-star Jelka van Houten. Then you would say: then Jelka van Houten who is younger will of course play Liza Minnelli. No, that was not the case.”
Where Janke assigned herself the role of Liza, the younger Jelka got the role of her mother Judy. “I thought that was odd.”
‘Very weird’
In the run-up to the premiere of that performance, Janke was not entirely honest, according to him. “What did she do now? In the pre-announcement, she said, “Liza Minnelli could very well be coming to the premiere.” Then I thought: well, at the Speeldoos in Baarn, I won’t see Liza Minnelli appearing there anytime soon.”
And then? “I called the American management and I said: ‘Is Liza coming to Baarn?’ Of course that was not the case at all.”
Ugly things
Janke has never forgiven Jan exposing her in that way. “I communicated it to this desk and I wrote it and since then it has been war with Janke. Every time I meet her she turns her head and sometimes she shouts ugly things at me. Then I think: how unfair, actually.”
Incidentally, nobody likes her, Jan knows. “I once did a round in the theater world and she is not really highly regarded as the best actress and I understand that she is not a nice colleague.”
