The victim was a Spanish woman, originally from Granada, a fan of the blond actor from classic films such as “Fightclub”, “Inglourious Basterds” and “Seven”. The scammer integrated Facebook groups dedicated to uploading stories and news from Brad Pitt. Through that social network, a virtual delinquent contacted her and they began to write to each other immediately.
“When she arrived at the office and began to tell us, it caused us a huge surprise. The same as anyone. But when we started to see documentation, facts and realities, we realized that it was a very well put together scam. There is probably a criminal organization behind it. They send a million messages in different languages, they bite three and they already have the reef ”, he explained Antonio Estella Aroza, lawyer for the victimwho did not disclose his name at her request, to the local media.
According to the complaint, the scammer or scammer made photomontages or deepfakes that came to deceive the Spanish asking for large sums of money. In one of the videos, the actor is even seen with a role that says “Honey, I really love you and I promise to repay you everything.”. Apparently, the request for credit would serve to start the shooting of a film in which the same victim would be an actress.
With that argument, the impostor asked me to send him money with the excuse to cover the financing costs of pre-production. According to the victim’s lawyer, “she really believed that she was in contact with the very actor of hollywood”. The author of the fraud asked his victim to send him different sums, which in total reached $170 thousand euros.
“She came to be convinced that she had a relationship with Brad Pitt, who was dating him. In fact, he reproached him on some occasion because he had seen him at such and such a festival in the company of another woman,” said the woman’s representative and added: “The false Brad Pitt had promised his victim marriage, he told her that he would look for her in Spain and they would get married. The beginning of the relationship between the middle-aged woman and the imposter had started at the beginning of last year.
