She & Him: “Melt Away: A Tribute To Brian Wilson” (Review & Stream)

So much loveliness, euphony and perfection is rare. Actress Zooey Deschanel and singer-songwriter have been together for 15 years
M. Ward the perfectly coordinated duo She & Him. This time they haven’t opted for yet another collection of indie cuddles, but rather a tribute to their mutual idol, Brian Wilson.

The master should like the 14 interpretations of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by the Beach Boys to the ’88 song “Melt Away”: Zooey is represented with at least 30 vocal tracks on each song, the music by M. Ward sounds like good old ones Radio Days, is warm and probably more drug-free than Wilson’s stuff. He insisted on taking part in “Do It Again” personally.
