The Kölner Haie from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) have apparently dealt well with the heavy derby defeat at their arch-rivals Düsseldorfer EG.
Four days after the 1:7 debacle down the Rhine, the former champions won against their table neighbors ERC Ingolstadt 4:1 (2:0, 0:1, 2:0) and thus celebrated their second win in the last three games.
Vice-champion Ingolstadt, on the other hand, suffered a defeat in the duel between the play-off contenders for the first time after four successes on foreign ice.
Justin Schütz was the outstanding player for the hosts with a brace (20th and 56th).
Cologne’s further goals were scored by Gregor MacLeod (5th) and Louis-Marc Aubry (45th). Ingolstadt was only able to reduce the score to 1:2 through Wayne Simpson (37′).
