After the drama, the shark was brought to land by boat where it is said to have been killed. Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad has asked experts to investigate possible causes for the shark’s “abnormal behaviour”. The minister also wants the researchers to check whether the animal was the same shark that caused accidents before. In addition, she has instructed “to take all possible measures to prevent a recurrence of the incident”. Since the incident, a two-day swimming and snorkeling ban has been in effect.

The victim’s father is “distraught,” according to the Daily Mail. He commented on how he watched his son get ripped apart by the shark as he called for his father’s help. “What kind of help could you give?” said the father. “The meat grinder happened in 20 seconds, it was just dragged under water.”
