A ceremony was held at Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) for Cüneyt Arkın, who passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday, June 28. His wife, Betül Cüreklibatır, who came to the ceremony, said, “I didn’t really know that he was loved so much. He left, he saved the world. Unfortunately, he couldn’t save himself. He wanted to die at home. He died at home.”

Speaking at the ceremony, the son of the actor, Murat Arkın, said, “Today, thanks to you, I realized this. Our family is much bigger and more beautiful than we thought. It is really hard to talk, my throat is stuck. He always said ‘my nation’, ‘my people’, ‘my country’ and I know he went to heaven now, but really, these are the men who will make even heaven a homeland. We learned everything from him, he is there in every step I take, everywhere I look. He told me, ‘If my son comes to trouble, take a step back, it doesn’t show that you are a coward. Cüneyt Arkın’s funeral was brought to Teşvikiye Mosque after the ceremony at AKM. As the crowd poured out of the mosque, Betül Cüreklibatır shed tears over her partner’s coffin. His fans also prayed at the head of the coffin. Arkın’s body was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery after the funeral prayer performed in Teşvikiye Mosque after the noon prayer.
