Share party leaders want to continue with gasless neighborhoods in Assen: ‘A matter of action’

Gasless pilot projects Kloosterveen and Lriks-West

The Asser Lriks district is one of the testing grounds that the municipality wants to phase out of gas early. The aim is to remove more than four hundred homes on the Beek and surrounding streets from gas by 2030. The houses could then be heated with heated water from the Vaart.

The project is not going smoothly, however, because there are concerns about feasibility and affordability. And the question is whether residents of the neighborhood would like to disconnect from the gas.

The same story applies to the Kloosterveen district, where plans to get the district off the gas are also meeting resistance. There are concerns about speed and the use of force. Later, alderman Karin Dekker (GroenLinks) promised that coercion is only a last option, and 2030 is not a hard deadline.
