Shannen Doherty: New cancer treatment works like a “miracle”

They wanted to change her therapy, but Doherty stuck with it – and was rewarded.

Former “90210” actress Shannen Doherty has shared another update about her cancer. Her current treatment seems to be working well, a development that is nothing short of a “miracle” for the 52-year-old. In the past few months she had to announce that her breast cancer had now reached stage 4, the final stage, and had spread to both the brain and the bones.

“We’ll just keep going and see what happens.”

After the actress started a new infusion schedule, it initially didn’t seem to have any effect, but she wanted to keep trying and was rewarded. She told the story on her podcast on January 29th “Let’s Be Clear,” where her radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi was present: “After four treatments we couldn’t really see any difference and everyone wanted me to change treatments. I just thought, ‘We’ll just keep going and see what happens.’ After the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw that the blood-brain barrier was broken.” She had achieved the result she had hoped for.

“For me it’s a miracle”

“Do I call that a miracle? For me at this moment it is a miracle. “I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s move on,'” the “Charmed” actress continued. At the moment she would like to remain hopeful about the developments in treatment. Shannen Doherty concluded: “That it actually breaks the blood-brain barrier is a miracle of this drug and perhaps a miracle that God steps in and says, ‘I’m going to give her a chance.’ Sometimes you look for miracles in the wrong places, and they are right under our noses.”

In the podcast episode, Mimin did not share how this development would affect her further treatment. Doherty recently reported that she was already planning her funeral due to her illness. “I want my funeral to be a love festival,” she said.
