In her opinion, Shakira cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence.
Shakira doubts that artificial intelligence (AI) is capable of accurately imitating her voice. In a new interview, the pop singer was critical of attempts to imitate her voice using AI.
“I was shown how I sound with AI. But I don’t think we’ve gotten it right yet. “I don’t hear myself there,” she told Billboard. She added that only the letter “E” sounded like her voice, but not the other vowels.
Shakira recently made headlines because the Spanish public prosecutor’s office filed a criminal complaint against the Colombian pop singer for economic crimes. She was accused of tax evasion with debts of 6.7 million. This is the second investigation against the singer in Spain.
The 46-year-old’s current eleventh studio album is called EL DORADO. It was released on May 26, 2016.
AI in art: artists in turmoil
The use of AI in art is a much-discussed topic in 2023. Recently, other artists such as Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones and Will.i.am also commented on this topic. Richards emphasized that AI can be either a tool or a toy.
The US rapper Will.i.am discussed the spread of artificial intelligence, or “AI”, in the music industry in a podcast. His rallying cry against AI’s unsolicited use of his face is: “I own the rights to the songs I wrote, but I don’t own the rights to my face or my voice?! My face is mine!”
