A winter fairy tale tells about the jealous King Leontes of Sicily. He wrongly accuses his wife Hermione of infidelity with his best friend. He locks her in a dungeon, where she has a daughter. That daughter is banished by Leontes. The play is part of the romance genre, but also has elements of comedy.
Last summer’s open-air performance attracted a record number of visitors. The necessary performances were also added. In total, almost 28,000 people came to the Shakespeare Theater.
More plays will be performed in the coming months, but in the indoor Globe Theater. It says there in November Midsummer Night’s Dream on the program, the play will be a month later Blessed Ladies played. Next March the actors will perform an adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most famous works, Romeo and Juliet.
