SG Flensburg-Handewitt achieved a confident victory in the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) after last Sunday’s defeat in Stuttgart.
In the catch-up game against SC DHfK Leipzig, Flensburg prevailed 34:24 (16:14). The Leipzig guests are still waiting for the first away win in their history in the Flensburg Campus Hall.
The SG (10:6 points) climbed to fourth place in the table with only their fourth win in the eighth game. Six points separate them from the sovereign leaders Füchse Berlin (16:0).
The 5,943 spectators saw a tight game at the beginning, in which Flensburg turned things up with a 6-1 run shortly before and after halftime when the score was 14:14. Despite a total of five goals from backcourt player Viggo Kristjansson, the guests never recovered, and Flensburg didn’t let up until the final whistle. The hosts’ top scorer was backcourt player Symon Pytlick with seven goals.
