Flensburg (dpa) – The SG Flensburg-Handewitt has suffered the seventh defeat in the preliminary round of the Champions League. At the French champions Paris Saint-Germain, he was defeated by the Bundesliga handball team by 30:33 (13:17).
The best throwers of the game were Franz Semper from Flensburg and Luc Steins from Paris with seven goals each. Since FC Porto lost 31:32 against Dinamo Bucharest in the parallel game in Group B, the North Germans remain fifth in the table. The lead to the last is only one point.
Flensburg got into the game well. Goalkeeper Benjamin Buric, who saved an early penalty from Mikkel Hansen, gave the SG defense the necessary support. However, the North Germans acted unfocused in attack and made too many mistakes. The guests went almost seven minutes without scoring their own goal, and Paris pulled away from 4:4 to 9:4 (15 th ).
In the second half, too, the team of SG coach Maik Machulla ran behind a deficit for a long time. A good four minutes before the end, Semper made the connection again at 30:31. Jim Gottfrisson missed the chance to equalize with a hasty throw. Thus the French came to a lucky victory.
