SG Dynamo Dresden separates from coach Guerino Capretti

He had come to Dresden to save Dynamo from relegation. But the plan backfired. Under Guerino Capretti, the Saxons did not win a game. Club and coach are now going their separate ways.

Dynamo Dresden parted ways with coach Guerino Capretti after being relegated to the third division. The club announced this on Friday. According to the club, the coach’s contract was only valid for the second division, which means that it automatically ends on June 30th. Furthermore, Dynamo sports director Ralf Becker Capretti informed that Dresden would like to restart with a new coach.

Sports director Becker stays

Capretti only took over the team on March 2, but he could not prevent relegation against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and did not win a game with Dynamo in the league. “From day one, Guerino Capretti trained our team with a clear plan and great passion and fully identified with the club,” said Becker: “He gave everything so that we could achieve our goal for the season together. But unfortunately we couldn’t get relegated impede.”

The club is continuing to work with Becker. His contract, which was originally only valid for the 2nd division and ran until 2025, was modified. It now also applies to the 3rd league and runs until June 30, 2024. “We have already started to work through the season that has just ended in a very critical form and communicated our clear expectations of Ralf Becker. Despite missing our goal for the season we are fundamentally convinced of the path we have taken and the orientation in the sporting area,” said Jens Heinig, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Dresden.
