SG BBM Bietigheim in the Final Four of the Handball European League – SWR Sport

The SG BBM Bietigheim women’s handball team has extended their winning streak: In the second leg of the quarter-finals of the European League, they beat ES Besançon Feminine 30:20 (12:10) and made it into the Final Four.

Victory number 42 in a row – the women’s handball team from SG BBM Bietigheim extended their record as Germany’s most successful handball team in the quarter-final second leg against ES Besançon Feminine.

With good cushion into the game

The hosts had already started the game against the French with a comfortable lead: the first leg in France ended in a 29:23 victory for the Bietigheimers. They played with confidence and dominated the game from the start. In the first half, however, the two-time German champion was not able to break away decisively. Coach Markus Gaugisch’s team went into the half-time break with a lead of just two goals (12:10).

Bietigheim outstanding after the break

After the change of sides, the women from Bietigheim showed really good handball and kept pulling away from the increasingly depressed opponents. BBM goalkeeper Melinda Szikora, who saved throw after throw from the guests, also played a major role in this. In the end, the Bietigheiers won ten goals ahead and made it into the Final Four of the European League. It is not yet clear where the tournament will take place.
