Sexual violence: either there is consent or it is rape. The EU directive

THEL sex without consent is rape, always: this is the position adopted by the Civil Liberties and Rights Commissions of the women of the EU Parliament who approved changes to a proposal for a directive on fight against violence against women and domestic violence.

The draft report calls for all EU countries a uniform and consent-based definition of rape. And he also asks stricter rules on acts of violence carried out through the Network and better support for victims.

All the aggravating demands, like intimidation

Building on the Commission’s proposal, the objective of MEPs is that of include in the list of factors precluding free decision-making the acts of intimidation and all the actions that instill fearful situations in the victims.

The European Parliament also calls for the list of aggravating circumstances to be extended to include particular situations in which the victim may find himself such as pregnancy, psychological distress, being a victim of trafficking or in facilities for asylum seekers.

Punish inhuman and humiliating acts
