You describe the situation very accurately, but I doubt whether Flores is the right man. He had already had some difficult situations and not mastered all of them. He was at Watford twice and the second time he was released with a record of 1 win in 14 games. Although you have to say Watford is a very tough place for coaches. The names that failed there are not without: Hodgson, Ranieri, Bilic.
He kept Getafe ahead in their first season.

Why doesn’t Sevilla approach Lopetegui anymore?
I also have my doubts as to whether Flores is the right coach. The decisions that are currently being made at Sevilla under the new sports director can definitely be questioned.
I trust Flores and Sevilla to stay in the league, but Sevilla has or should have higher ambitions and I can’t imagine that with Flores on the sidelines.
Bringing Lopetegui back almost 1.5 years after his dismissal would be an admission somewhere that they did wrong back then. Clubs or club officials are reluctant to admit that they had the right coach but fired him. The question also arises as to whether Lopetegui even wants that; I think he will find better offers sooner or later.
