Agents from the National Police, the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Barcelona Urban Guard have saved the life of a 21-year-old girl who had fallen to the ground unconscious for a cardiac arrest in Plaza Catalunya, in the Catalan capital. They performed cardiopulmonary maneuvers on her and used a defibrillator to revive her.
As reported this Friday by the National Police in a statement, after this first aid and the intervention of the health services sent to the scene, the young woman was transferred to the Sant Pau hospital from Barcelona. There it was cirurgic intervention and, after spending three days in the Unit Intensive Carespent 20 days in the plant recovering.
The events occurred on September 19, when a plainclothes agent of the National Police who was waiting for his colleagues to return to the police station after a device they had carried out, heard screams from a woman in Plaza de Catalunya and went to running towards the place. Upon arriving, he found a large crowd of people around the girl, who was lying unconscious on the ground.
The young woman did not react
The agent identified himself as a police officer so that they could make way for him and clear the place until he approached the girl, who was accompanied by her mother, who was in a state of confusion. great nervousness and anxiety, since her daughter had no vital signs. Together with a police officer who also responded to the scene due to the medical emergency, the police officer performed first aid on the girl, with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuver.

Days later, with the girl already recovered, the National Police agent who intervened was able to meet with the young woman, once she was admitted to the hospital, to give him a t-shirt symbolically, since he had to tear his own to be able to perform the maneuver and save his life.
