Several people were injured in an accident on provincial road N244 through Middenbeemster. According to bystanders, at least four people would have been taken to hospital, but the police cannot confirm this yet. A police spokesperson speaks to NH Nieuws about ‘several’ victims.
The accident happened around half past three on the stretch of road between the Middenweg and the connection with the A7 motorway. It is not yet clear how the accident could have happened and is still under investigation.
The police confirm that at least one person had to be rescued from the car by the fire brigade. It is still unclear what happened to the other victims. In any case, the road is full of several ambulances, and an air ambulance has also landed.
Road closed
Due to the accident and the assistance to the victims, the part of the N244 in question has been closed. Police are urging motorists to avoid the road. It is not yet known how long the closure will last.
