Several motorists were ticketed this morning because they took pictures of the devastation on the A9. An accident involving several cars occurred at the Stadshart exit this morning around 7:45 am, in which a caravan was also driven to smithereens.
Police are annoyed that some motorists preferred to take photos of the aftermath of the accident rather than focus on the road. “On the highway it is extra important that the emergency services can work safely. In addition, we do not want dangerous situations to arise again,” the police write on Facebook.
It is not known how many motorists have been thrown on the ticket. It is clear that they have to pay 350 euros. That is the fine amount for holding a phone while driving a motorized vehicle.

The police do express their appreciation for two witnesses who helped to catch a dog that had escaped from one of the vehicles involved and ‘ran across the road in panic’. A motorist and a truck driver managed to overpower the dog, after which the animal was collected at the nearby gas station. The animal was eventually picked up by the animal ambulance.
One of the drivers involved was injured in the accident and was taken to hospital for treatment. After the accident, the A9 was completely locked and a diversion was set up. That caused a lot of delays all morning. The Stadshart exit also reopened around 3 p.m.
According to a witness, the devastation on the highway was much bigger than can be seen in the photo of the police above. “Half is not on it. It was much more intense this morning to see when I drove past it. It really affected me all morning,” the woman writes.
