Seven cars were involved in various collisions on the N242 near Alkmaar this morning around 6.40 am. It caused quite a bit of traffic jam, but the road has now reopened and the delay is decreasing.
A witness reports to NH that a driver overlooked a truck when she wanted to change lanes. Due to the impact this caused, a wheel is said to have broken off. Therefore, the other lane was braked hard, causing several cars to collide.
The police cannot yet confirm this cause. “A total of seven cars have been involved in various rear-end collisions,” said the spokesman. “Two people were checked in the ambulance. No one was injured.”

The accident caused a lot of delays in the morning rush hour in the direction of Heerhugowaard to Alkmaar. Meanwhile, the lanes have reopened and the traffic jam is slowly dissolving. There are still about 7 kilometers to a halt, which causes a delay of almost 40 minutes.
Traffic on the N508 is also affected by the accidents. There, the traffic jam causes a delay of about 45 minutes.
