Seventy percent of Europeans live in their own home

Most people in the European Union live in a home that they or their family own. This is according to figures from the European statistical office Eurostat. In 2020, an average of 69.7 percent of the population lived in their own home, 30.3 percent rented a home. Only in Germany are there about the same number of owners (50.4 percent) and tenants (49.6 percent).
