Seventh edition of The Crystal Ship started in Ostend

Since the start of the street art festival in 2016, hundreds of thousands of visitors have followed the walking and cycling routes of The Crystal Ship. In the meantime, Ostend already has 71 such large murals. The city prides itself on the fact that The Crystal Ship is the largest free arts festival of its genre.

In the first week of the Easter holidays, many renowned street artists settled in Ostend. On the corner of Velodroomstraat and Maria-Theresiastraat, a striking mural of a crashed peace dove has been on display for a few days now. The Israeli collective Broken Fingaz will also sell prints with the same message of peace. All proceeds go to the victims of the war in Ukraine.

Starting shot in Werkwerkersstraat

The seventh edition of the arts festival was officially kicked off in Werkgedragstraat. There, visitors can enjoy the work of Basque artist Iñigo Sesma, who is known for his cinematic style.

The work of the Lithuanian street artist Egle Zvirblyte also catches the eye. After all, she was the only one who did not make a mural, but did make a sculpture in the water feature in front of the Kursaal. With artists from Portugal, Poland, Argentina, Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom, the international character of The Crystal Ship is undisputed.

The only Belgian on the seventh edition is the Liège Adele Renault, who is mainly inspired by nature.
