Seven-year-old motorcycle talent dies after accident

Drama in the motorsport world: A seven-year-old talent died after a serious accident. His cousin, who is also a celebrity, mourns publicly.
Young motorcycle rider Collin Veijer (19) mourns his little cousin Sid (7), who died after a tragic accident with his minibike. The seven-year-old’s family announced the death via Instagram last Sunday.
The incident occurred on December 22nd at an indoor go-kart track in Schwalmen, the Netherlands. Sid Veijer had a serious fall and suffered life-threatening injuries. Despite several emergency operations in a clinic in Maastricht, his life could not be saved.
The family says there was initially a glimmer of hope, but over the past week the situation has worsened. A statement said: “Last Monday there was a small bright spot in Sid’s situation. By the end of the week, that bright spot turned into the darkest scenario and an unfair fight ensued that Sid could not win.” The seven-year-old died on Sunday surrounded by his family.
Sid Veijer was himself a promising talent in motorsport. In October 2024 he won the Minibike Junior A class at the TT in Assen, thereby demonstrating his exceptional skills on the racetrack.
His cousin Collin Veijer, who currently competes in the Moto3 class, the lightest class in MotoGP, was deeply affected. He wrote on Instagram: “Sid, you fought as hard as you could with everything that happened, but you couldn’t win this tough and difficult fight.” He is very proud to have been his cousin and will remember the time we spent together. “I will never forget the memories and you as a person. You motivate me to fight as hard as you did. I love you, Sid.”
