Finnish biathlon champion Olli Hiidensalo31, is in the shock of his life, when consecutive rankings for World Cup points are used as a measure.
Hiidensalo has been among the top 40 in all three individual World Cup starts this season.
At the end of last season, the man fell ill with the corona virus before the last two weekends of the World Cup, but before that the point streak was four starts.
– It tastes good, it tastes good, Hiidensalo said.
The last time the man was left without points in the World Cup was on January 16, 2022 in the pursuit of Ruhpolding.
– The goal is to be among the top 25 in the World Cup, so that I can start together in France in two weeks.
The first joint start of the World Cup 2022–23 is scheduled before the Christmas holidays on December 18. The event is open to the top 25 of the World Cup and the top five of the weekend in France, who are not among the top 25 in the World Cup’s total points.
After three races, Hiidensalo is in 22nd place in the Cup.
The best individual ranking of the man’s career in the World Cup competition is eleventh. He posted a result this week in North Karelia in a 20 kilometer race.

On Sunday, after a 12.5-kilometer pursuit, the Finn crossed the finish line in 27th place. He improved six notches from Saturday’s 10-kilometer sprint race.
– The bombs in the lying shooting were my own mistakes. Must be more careful in the future. The uprights came out well. By the way, there was composure except for the first spot, commented Hiidensalo, who scored a 1+2+1+0 bomb balance.
Hiidensalo’s mono was on the mend, as he raised his ranking by six notches in the cross-country ski run after the last shooting. He was the fastest man in the last ski race.
– The skiing was much better than on Saturday. Maintenance has done a really good job this week, but on Saturday we had challenges in the men’s race. The ski worked on Sunday and I was able to work much better than the day before.
The skiing times of the pursuit are not particularly comparable compared to the intermediate start race, but they certainly give an indication. On Sunday, Hiidensalo was sixteenth in time, 51.4 seconds slower than the fastest man in the competition. The winner of the race and the diver was on skis Johannes Bö.
