At a street race in a neighborhood in the north of Bordeaux, a 32-year-old driver drove his car into a crowd on Friday evening. Seven people were injured, two of them seriously, according to the fire brigade and the police.

At around 11 p.m., the driver lost control of the steering wheel in a high-speed curve. The vehicle left the road and hit spectators on the sidewalk, police in the French city said. Seven people were injured. Two people suffered serious injuries to “the legs and pelvis”, but no one is in danger.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and is still in custody. Three other people were also in his car.
