Housing plots will be built on the vacant lot of Café Halfweg that will provide space for seven detached houses. The municipality and the developer, a party from Klazienaveen, have agreed on this.
However, the usual procedures must be followed, including an amendment to the zoning plan. This takes an average of one year.
Plans have been in existence for the past four years for the location of the closed catering business on Oosterveldsestraat. To prevent impoverishment, the café and an associated commercial building have now been demolished.
For the new building it is necessary to move the nearby ice rink. This will soon be behind the houses.
