In a game well worth seeing, FC Heidenheim took three points from Sandhausen. The hosts remain in the danger zone.

In a game that was already decided at times, FC Heidenheim trembled to a 4:3 victory and settled further up the table in the second Bundesliga. Tim Siersleben (31st), Tim Kleindienst (40th), Christian Kühlwetter (48th) and Kevin Sessa (73rd) scored for the guests, Merveille Papela (50th), Christian Kinsombi (76th) and Alexander Esswein (80th). .) for the SVS.

Both teams with returnees

With the hosts, first-choice keeper Patrick Drewes returned between the posts after tearing a muscle fiber. Janik Bachmann was back in the starting eleven after serving a yellow card suspension – similar to Heidenheim’s top scorer Kleindienst on the other side.

Sandhausen with aluminum hit

The visitors took control from the start of the game. Even though most of the action took place in the SV Sandhausen half, the first good opportunity of the game belonged to the host: In the 22nd minute, Christian Kinsombi hit the post with a shot from the left edge of the penalty area. This was followed by a brief period of pressure from SV Sandhausen, who managed to get three shots on Müller’s goal within a few minutes, but without seriously challenging the 31-year-old.

SVS invites guests to score goals

Heidenheim found it difficult to create chances from the game. It was only logical that the opening goal in the 31st minute came from a set piece. Siersleben converted a corner kick from Jan-Niklas Beste on the second post without resistance. Sandhausen keeper Drewes didn’t look good, miscalculated and made it easy for Siersleben, who only had to turn his head from a short distance.

Despite the goal, the hosts didn’t let themselves down and tried to build on the good phase a few minutes before, but without being able to create compelling scoring chances. FCH struck again in the 40th minute. Tim Kleindienst remained stubborn after a first blocked shot and made it 2-0 with a solid shot. Although Drewes still had a hand, he was unable to counter the Heidenheim striker’s seventh goal of the season.

Furious second half

Even after the change of sides, Heidenheim remained more determined. Just three minutes after the restart, Kühlwetter scored 3-0 with a low shot from the left corner of the penalty area. But the connection hit from SV Sandhausen was not long in coming. Less than 120 seconds later, Papela reduced the lead to 1:3 after a good combination with Esswein and Cebio Soukou and kept his team in the game.

Heidenheim with the decision – apparently

But FC Heidenheim wasn’t impressed. The supposed 4:1 by Beste was correctly withdrawn by the video assistant due to an offside position by assist provider Kleindienst. Only four minutes later, the 4:1 counted: Sessa let Drewes get out and netted callously.

Sandhausen strikes back

The game seemed to have gone well, but Sandhausen came back again: In the 76th minute, Christian Kinsombi scored after a one-two with Esswein, shortly afterwards referee Hempel awarded a penalty for SV Sandhausen after a tackle from Siersleben against Marvin Rittmüller. The video assistant switched on again and corrected the referee – this time on a free kick, which Esswein converted directly with a low shot (80th).

But it wasn’t enough for the home side to equalize. At the end of the first half of the season, the SVS has to go to Hamburg on Saturday (12 November, 1 p.m.). At the same time, FC Heidenheim receives SSV Jahn Regensburg.
