Viktoria Berlin suffered a severe setback in the relegation battle of the 3rd soccer league.
The promoted team lost 3-0 (0-0) at the Würzburger Kickers on Saturday and lost further points in the long-distance duel with SC Verl to stay in the class. Saliou Sané (68th minute) with a penalty kick, Robert Herrmann (78th) and Marvin Pourie (81st) scored the goals for Würzburg and thus initially prevented their team from being relegated to the regional league.
With coach Farat Toku, Viktoria now has to prevent the imminent move into the fourth division in the two remaining games. However, the situation has deteriorated dramatically. The last serious competitor, SC Verl, won 2-1 at 1. FC Saarbrücken and is only one point behind, but they still have one more game to play. Würzburg, on the other hand, would need another football miracle if they were seven points behind Viktoria.
Both teams felt the importance of the game. After all, Viktoria tried to set the first accents quickly. Würzburg was very compact, as announced by coach Ralf Santelli. No hara-kiri, despite the need to win was the motto. The Berliners looked in vain for free space and were suddenly pushed more and more onto the defensive in the middle of the first half.

Würzburg played itself free. The best chance was missed by Herrmann (38th), who failed from close range to Viktoria goalkeeper Philip Sprint. A shot by Viktorias Tobias Gunte (33rd) had just been blocked.
The Kickers had to take risks in the second half and they rewarded themselves with a furious final phase. With the deficit from Sané’s penalty, Viktoria’s will was broken.
