No extra sausage for Boris Becker: Those responsible for the London Wandsworth prison have now expressly forbidden the fallen German tennis star to do his commentator job for the TV channel “Eurosport”.
That “Eurosport” is thinking about letting Boris Becker comment on tennis games from prison was claimed by Becker’s former companion Frank Wörndl in the Swiss “Blick” last week. There was talk of a “home studio” for former tennis stars, from which he could have continued his work for “Eurosport”.
However, Becker’s management assured “RTL” that Wörndl’s statements do not correspond to the facts, meaning that the said plans do not exist at all. In an interview with “RTL”, a lawyer also referred to the strict rules applied in Wandsworth.
In the meantime, the prison itself has also commented on the report. When asked about the alleged plans of the detainee, a spokesman for the institution told the “DailyStar” with: “We will not allow that.” Approving such plans would be “unprecedented”.
No permission for Boris Becker
An unnamed source told the English tabloid that it is generally not allowed to record video or audio in prison that can be received outside the walls without express permission. Since this approval will not be given, Becker will not be able to comment on games either – whether he and “Eurosport” want it or not.
According to media reports, Becker has to serve half of his prison sentence behind bars. As reported by “Sport Bild”, citing lawyer Paul Vogel, who has represented several celebrities in criminal proceedings in Great Britain, the 54-year-old could be released in six months.
