An elderly, seriously ill man was assaulted and threatened early on Saturday morning in Tilburg. This happened when he was walking on the Besterdring with his wife around a quarter past six.
A 25-year-old man without a permanent home or residence in the Netherlands asked the couple out of the blue for a joint. When the man and woman indicated that they do not smoke, the 75-year-old man was kicked in the leg, which almost caused him to fall. The suspect then yelled at the woman and also gave the man a ‘blow or punch’ in the back, police said.
Alert
The couple was very scared and felt threatened. When the suspect ran away, the man and woman called the police and gave the suspect’s description.
Based on this, several surveillance units were able to quickly arrest the suspect. During the arrest, the man insulted the officers.
